Initiation to recorder – children 8 to 12 years of age

This 45 minute class is a first discovery of the recorder. Using a fun and simple method, children will discover this popular instrument. Important elements of the Initiation to Music class will be reviewed and basic theory will be further explored. Among the many elements in this program, children will learn how to hold the instrument correctly and to play various sounds. They will also learn breathing techniques common to all woodwind instruments. At the end of the session, some children are playing a variety of simple pieces. Classes are created with young musicians in mind and include singing, instruments and listening activities. Every child is different and and progresses at his pace. This in mind, children are encouraged but never forced to participate.

  • Instruments provided during class.
  • This is not a parent-participation class. There is a waiting room near the class and your teacher will regularly ask you to look in or even participate in the activities.
Cost : $75.00 per child

Location : All classes are held in Gatineau’s Aylmer sector at 153, rue Principale.
